Ahead of the coming week, forexchallenges.com has compiled a list of the four events on the economic calendar that you should be watching more closely:
1. U.S.-China Trade Talks
A new round of U.S.-China trade talks begins in Beijing, after recent set of negotiations ended in Washington last week without a deal.
2. Fed Speakers
A few Fed speeches will get market attention in the week ahead, as traders sick for further clues on interest rates.
3. U.S. Inflation
The Commerce Department will publish on Wednesday at 13:30 GMT, January CPI figures which would give a better clue in regards to inflation pace. Any signs of inflation weakening will boost chances for slower future rate raises.
Weakening inflation will likely add to expectations that the Federal Reserve will need to slow its pace of rate hikes next year.
4. U.S. Retail Sales
The Commerce Department will release on Thursday data on retail sales for December at 13:30 GMT. Investors will be following this data in attempt to get any clues for further strength of the American consumer.
